Hi, I’m Katie

I’m someone who has always been interested in health, nutrition, and the psychology behind behavior and why we make the choices we do.

I grew up in Texas, but have been living internationally with my husband and three sons for over 20 years now. While living away from home certainly has its challenges, it has also provided myself and my family with many opportunities to experience and explore different cultures and food.

Speaking of food… I love to cook! Food was an important part of my childhood in Texas and it is still a very important part of my life. I truly believe in the power of food and its potential to heal and harm. When our second son was born premature, I put my beliefs into action and learned as much as I could about nutrition and cooking so that I could make everything for our tiny baby myself. That experience reignited my love of food and nutrition! Since then, my husband and I have learned a lot about food, nutrition, and cooking. We have enjoyed many fun hours together in the kitchen creating healthy and tasty meals for our family.

I also love learning and often joke that I could happily spend my life as a perpetual student! I love to read and research, I’m always looking into something and trying to learn whatever I can.

Having danced for most of my life, it should come as no surprise that I love all kinds of movement and activity. The last few years have primarily involved yoga, golf, and hiking with my family. Of course I still dance whenever I get the chance! You’d be surprised just how many opportunities the kitchen provides.

To find out about my education and how I came to be a health coach, see below…

After high school, I attended the University of Houston where I studied orchestral, ensemble, and solo harp alongside dance and core curriculum. I then relocated to Boston where I worked as a professional Ballroom and Latin dancer and teacher. While living in the UK I completed my degree in psychology.

As my children went through school I found many opportunities to volunteer and serve my community, both in Scotland and Germany. I was involved in the organization of many such activities and thoroughly enjoyed those experiences.

As my children started getting older, I had the opportunity to refocus on my own goals and explore what opportunities lay in front of me. When I discovered Health Coaching, I knew instantly that it would be an opportunity to combine my educational and personal knowledge and experiences to help and serve others in a meaningful way.
