What is a health and well-being coach?
Health coaches are specialists in behavior change and assist their clients in making lasting changes to achieve their vision of optimal health and well-being. Health coaching is client led and coaches partner with their clients to create open dialogue and space to explore what optimal health means to their client and how to achieve this vision. Through this partnership, coaches assist their clients in evaluating the many areas of their lives that contribute to overall health and well-being while also empowering their clients to make the changes they want to make. In health coaching, the client is always in the driver’s seat, deciding what matters and what they want to work on, a health coach will never direct or tell their clients what to do, clients are the experts on their own lives and health coaches support their clients as they navigate their way to their goals. The methods used by health and well-being coaches are based in research and the neuroscience of behavior change and behavior change models. Working from a whole person perspective, health and well-being coaches understand that one’s health is intimately connected to many parts of their life and behaviors and help to enable their clients to view and manage their health holistically.
